Tokio Hotel's tenderness. - They are not afraid of anything...
If "MR." is the current representative of Hong Kong's bands, 4-man-band Tokio Hotel must be the representative of German bands. Tokio Hotel was formed in 2001 and at first they were only popular in Germany and they only sang in German. In recent years, they wanted to be more international so they had released some English songs. All songs in their newest album "Humanoid" are in English so more people can understand. They showed us that Germany is not only well-known Klinsmann and sausages but also bands. You probably will think they are very cool because of their Punk style. However, they can actually be soft and sentimental.

Discrimination? They are not afraid of it.
Tokio Hotel can be considered as the most successful German band in these 20 years, not only have they got 10 platinum awards, 4 number 1 singles and European tours that tickers all being sold out, they were also the Best Newcomer of MTV Music Award 2008. There are many other bands out there, what are the differences between TH and them? Are they only selling the good looks of the twins, Bill and Tom? Bill: "Maybe it is related to our growing up conditions, we have been in one band since we were 10 and we always performed in our hometown Magdeburg in East Germany. Growing up in such a gloomy place, Tom and I were treated like aliens by other people. But we didn't give up, we knew that the only way for us to become huge was to break into other regions. So we decided to leave our home and rock." It is hard for a band to survive, and it is even harder for those bands which have to leave their hometowns. Tokio Hotel's determination should really be appreciated.

Different languages? They are not afraid of them.
The elder twin Tom always brought his guitar with him since he was 7. When he was 13, he started to make music with his brother Bill who had special styles and looks. They did attract attentions from many European music producers. The band was originally called "Devilish" but later on they didn't want to be limited by the German language, so they renamed themselves as "Tokio Hotel" which sounds Eastern. The new band name helped them to break into the European teenagers market more easily. From 500 audiences in the pub to 500 thousands fans singing their songs under the Eiffel Tower, the number of their fans has increased by like a thousand time. Moreover, these 500 thousand French fans learn German because of Tokio Hotel. It is the same situation when many people in Hong Kong learn Korean for some Korean stars.

They do whatever they want. They are not afraid of anything.
Being discriminated, having language problems, they have gone through some difficult times. Nothing can stop them! Tom: "We don't want to only rely on our old stuff so we always try new things out. The funniest thing is, Bill is making us crazy because he always want to add new stuff and instruments into our songs even if we had not finish recording them. Our new song "Automatic" is about our daily lives and emotions and their relationship with automation. Think about it, how many things can work automatically everyday? The doors of lifts, the automatic transmission of cars, the auto focus of cameras...these all sounds convenient. But if we consider human relations, it doesn't work. Since love comes from our heart, it can't be generated by cold automation." They can list a million examples when explaining the meaning of their songs. We can see that Tokio Hotel is just as the same as their songs – They compose their songs by an unrestrained and vigorous style that brims with talent.
Tom: I would describe me as a really nice cutie, beautiful, yeah fabulous boy. Bill: you know I think it‘s better when we describe, you know, I‘ll describe Georg. He‘s, you know, he‘s a bit, Georg is a bit lazy... Tom: lazy, clumsy Bill: clumsy, and he‘s, you know, he‘s always too late and yeah he likes to sleep long. Tom (interupts): he‘s really funny Bill: yeah, because he‘s clumsy. And Gustav is, you know, it‘s hard to find the word in English, I would say bitchy, but I don‘t know if it‘s the right word. Tom: yeah, you can‘t say... You should be careful when you talk to Gustav, because you can‘t say anythhing negative about him, because he‘s getting very bitchy then. Gustav: totally gorgeous Tom: it‘s the truth. And Bill... Georg: is egoistic Tom: egoistic, egoistic is it the right word? Georg: yeah Tom: egoistic and... yeah Bill: no, that‘s... (all laugh) Woman: you guys wanna defend yourself? Tom: defend? Noo.. because they know it‘s the truth. Bill: you know, I think, you know, they are just a little bit... they say egoistic, because I don‘t walk around with their cases, you know, their instruments. I just have to have my mic, and you know, that‘s why I am a Singer. So I‘m happy about that. I‘m not egoistic, I just.. don‘t wanna hold your instruments. Georg: there‘re a lot of more same (?) Tom: yeah Georg: that‘s...
A big thank you goes out to all Tokio Hotel fans and Galaxie readers who contributed to these questions.
If I weren't a fan before meeting Tokio Hotel, I certainly am one now. There is absolutely everything to like them. Their music is out of this world, they are larger than life showmen onstage and in person, they are the coolest, funniest guys you could have the pleasure of hanging out with. The best perk though about being a Tokio Hotel fan is the guys absolutely treasure you.
During Galaxie's 15-minute interview with Tokio Hotel on their visit here in Malaysia, it was impossible to get a straight answer from Bill and Tom Kaulitz, George Listing or Gustav Schafer.
However, when it comes to matters of their fans, the guys are dead serious.
Which is why, Tokio Hotel were absolutely thrilled to answer your questions received via Twitter and Facebook. Be advised though that it was hard to keep a straight face at some of their answers.
Since quite a number of questions on our list concerned Bill's hair, we decided to go with that first.
Bill, can you explain why there is a worldwide obsession with your hair? Bill: I don't know. I just like to experiment and try new things out with my hair. Before this, I had dreadlocks.
Bill, have you tried to convince the rest of the guys to do hair makeovers? Bill: I hope they would, but ... Tom, Georg, Gustav: No! Never, ever.
Tokio Hotel, since you guys are clearly "living the dream" are there any dreams that you haven't fulfilled? Bill: One of our dreams as a band that we really wish for is to go to Tokyo. We've never been there yet. A Grammy award would also be nice.
Tom, what's the reason you won't have a tattoo? Tom: I don't know. I've thought about it. Bill: He's afraid. He's scared to get a tattoo.
Bill, if you had your own fashion collection what kind of clothes would it include? Bill: I can't decide if it will be the stuff I wear or something completely different. But I do know that I really want to do something in the future that involves a collection because I love to design and be creative when it comes to fashion.
Is Georg still messing up his chords? Tom: (joking) He can't play good bass. Georg: That is not true. Tom: I don't know why because I taught Gustav the drums and he plays really well but I can't seem to teach George. He is not talented. I think that is the main problem. Georg: That's not true, that's not true.
Tokio Hotel, what are you going to do with all your stage costumes and The Dogs Unleashed motorbike once the tour wraps? Bill: That's going to be intersting when the time comes beause my closets at home are already full. I have no place to put them! The motorbike, we thought of putting in the garden.
Bill, have you ever gone public without your makeup? Bill: When i'm on vacation or travelling I don't usually have makeup on and that's not really a problem for me. But then again, I also feel more like myslef when I do.
Bill and Tom, you've mentioned being "more than twins." What does that mean? Tom: We are identical twins and the connection between us is very strong. We are like soulmates as well. I know what he is thinking the second he thinks it. Bill: I guess you could say we are almost like one person.
Georg and Gustav, what is it like working with Tom and Bill? Bill: I think it is an honour for them to be working with us. Georg: Sometimes it is a little bit annoying because the talk the whole day. But, we have been a band for 10 years and we feel more like brothers.
Tokio Hotel, what do you think of Asian girls? Tom: Really good! We were in Singapore and we saw some fans, and a lot of them are very beautiful girls. And it's the same when we arrived in Malaysia. All good, really good. Georg: Tom is really happy.
A Tokio Hotel nyert a "Bester Live-Act" kategóriában. De mi ez!?...
... Mágikusan lebed a Comet a frontember, Bill (20) kezében!
Elképesztő!
ÉLŐBEN látni a KISS-t egy igazi élmény! Tegnap hatalmas show volt Németországban, Hamburgban és természetesen és is ott voltam... Billt is elvittem magammal. Az old school Rock'n'Roll show a legjobb! (ford: Brigi @ Billkaulitz-fans)
AWESOME!
KISS is a real experience when watching them LIVE in concert. Yesterday was the big show in Hamburg, Germany and of course, I had to be there... I took Bill along with me as well. An old school Rock'n'Roll show at its best!
HAMMER!
LIVE ist KISS ein absolutes Erlebnis. Gestern war großes Konzert in Hamburg und da musste ich natürlich hin....Bill hab ich auch mitgenommen! Richtig gute Rock`n`roll Show der "alten Schule".
